You may think that the idea of saving forests is something new. This is not true. We have always known that we needed to, but it wasn’t something we stressed over until recent years when our forests began taking a real hit. The truth is, the conservation movement can be traced back to around 1662 when a paper was presented to the Royal Society. It was written by John Evelyn. Two years later it was published as a book called Sylva.
It kind of faded out of thought for a while, but in the late 1800s, it came back in full force with Theodore Roosevelt, playing his part in it all.
